Jandos Shegenov

Jandos is an undergraduate senior capstone student majoring in Chemistry. His research focuses on studying the effects of mutation of the beta-clasp of the human Ketohexokinase (KHK), an enzyme responsible for the metabolism of fructose. Jando’s Capstone project aims to characterize the effect of the beta-clasp on the function and stability of KHK, which will eventually contribute to the study of the role of the beta-clasp in the ribokinase enzyme families.

He aspires to continue his studies in Biochemistry and/or Chemical Biology: "I believe that the SBBC Lab is an excellent team of scientists that prepares you to face all the challenges of continuing studies in the area of biochemistry while also cultivating rewarding research experience fulfilled with many biophysical and biochemical techniques.”
